- Take 21/2 cups Basmati rice
- Make ready 1 small cup fresh green peas
- Prepare 10/12 curry leaves

- Prepare 1 big tomato cut into lengthwise

- Get 1 tsp homemade kala masala

- Take 1 small cup finely chopped onion
- Make ready 1 small cup finely chopped tomatoes

- Make ready 150 gms chakka (yoghurt)
- Get 150 gms sugar

- For puri
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in tadka pan.
- In a large mixing bowl add wheat flour, salt & hot oil, mix well.
- Add little water and knead the dough.
- The dough should not be soft but a little tight
- Divide the dough into small size balls
- Roll the dough ball evenly into circle using rolling pin
- Heat oil in a kadhai & deep fry one by one.
- For Batata rassa (potato curry)
- Rinse, peeled & chopped potatoes into small cubes.
- Grind garlic, ginger & dry coconut to a smooth paste.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, let them crackle.
- Add cumin seeds, let them crackle.
- Add curry leaves, chopped onion. Saute until turns trasculent.
- Add chopped tomatoes & saute till the tomatoes soften.
- Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, chopped potatoes.
- Cover the pan with lid cook until potatoes are half cooked
- Add ginger garlic coconut paste, all masales & salt. mix well.
- Add water as per consistency of gravy & boil it on sim till it cooks well.
- For Masalebhat
- Clean and wash the rice, drain and keep aside
- Wash green peas also & keep aside
- In a mixer grind ginger garlic & coconut to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, let them crackle.
- Add cumin seeds, let them crackle.
- Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves & green peas and mix well.
- Cover the pan with lid and cook until the peas soften.
- Add rice, all masales, salt and mix until the rice is well coated.
- Add 6 cups of boiled water.
- Add tomatoes, cashews & sugar.
- Cover the pan with lid & cook until rice is done.
- For Koshimbir
- In a large mixing bowl combine all ingredients together and mix well.
Simple with less oil and basic spices. Though there are different versions, I have shared the. Batata Rassa Bhaji is made with tomatoes and peas also without them. Some also add cauliflower and eggplant. Firstly peel the potatoes and chop them into cubes.
