The snack is prepared by cooking flour in water like porridge with cumin seeds and an alkaline salt known as. It is known as "Khichu" in Gujarati and actually a dough from which traditional papads are prepared. Khichu can be prepared from various types of flours like rice flour, wheat flour, bajri flour, nachani flour, jowar flour etc. However this recipe uses the rice flour which is slowly added to the mix.

- In a vessel: Add in the measured water, chopped chillies, hing, a little oil, bhuna masala powder, ginger, curry leaves, salt & soda- Give it all once a nice ππ» mix & close the lid & allow it to boil for 2-3 mins time- to everything get infused & well blended
- Add in the Rice flour now, after the stipulated time given & stir continuously to get an absolutely lump free, smooth paste kinda consistency- Check the salt content & adjust the same, if needed
