- Get 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- Take 1 pinch Asafoetida
- Make ready 1/2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- Prepare 3-4 curry leaves
- Prepare 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- Get 1 tsp lemon juice
- Get 1/2 cup gram flour
- Take 1 pinch baking soda
- Prepare 1/3 cup water
- Prepare 2 tsp oil + Oil for frying

Steps to make Batata Vada:
- Peel boiled potatoes and mash them. Heat 2 spn oil in a small pan at medium flame. Add mustard seeds when they start to crackle add asafoetida,curry leaves and ginger-garlic paste.Stir and cook for a minute. Add turmeric powder and mix well.
- Turn off the flame and transfer the prepare tempering over mashed potatoes.
- Now make round shaped balls from it.
- Prepare a batter for vada - Take gram flour and add salt,turmeric asafoetida and baking soda. Add water little by little and stir continuously and make a smooth batter.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium flame. When oil is medium hot dip each potato ball into batter and coat it evenly with hand or spoon and gently drop balls in a single batch and deep fry until light golden brown.
- Drain excess oil using perforated spoon and transfer them on a plate. Batata Vada is now ready for serving.
